How it works

The strategy calculates price friction by examining how frequently the current price level has been observed in the previous 500 bars. A blue line represents current price friction, with higher values indicating slower movement and more trading activity.

When the blue line dips below a predetermined threshold (set at -10), it signals a potential trade entry. A quick moving weighted average determines the trade direction, and the strategy uses a friction level of 50 as an exit point

Why it may be useful

This approach helps traders identify price zones with low historical activity, which could signal potential breakout opportunities. By measuring price friction, traders can understand market dynamics and potential momentum shifts.

The strategy provides a unique perspective on price movement, highlighting areas where price might move more freely. It offers insights into market structure and can help traders anticipate potential trend changes or breakout scenarios

When to explore it

This strategy works best in markets with clear trending characteristics, particularly for assets like BTCUSD with significant price volatility. It is most effective on 30-minute charts but can be adapted to other timeframes and assets.

Traders should use it when seeking to identify potential breakout zones and understand market friction. It is particularly useful for swing traders and day traders looking for entry points in potentially trending markets
