How it works

The signal begins by calculating the median price over a specified period, typically using 100 bars to determine the average of the highest and lowest prices. It then establishes a color-coded median price line that changes based on the current closing price's relationship to the median.

When the closing price crosses above the median, a green upward triangle buy signal is generated, and when it crosses below, a red downward triangle sell signal appears. The bars on the chart are also color-coded: blue for bars above the median, orange for bars below, and white for bars touching the median line.

Why it may be useful

This signal provides traders with a clear visual representation of price dynamics and market sentiment by using the median price as a reference point. It helps traders quickly identify potential trend changes and momentum shifts through its color-coded system and signal markers.

By offering an intuitive way to assess price movement relative to a central tendency, the indicator assists traders in making more informed decisions about market direction and potential entry or exit points.

When to explore it

The median price signal is most effective in markets with clear trending characteristics and moderate volatility. It works particularly well for traders who prefer a straightforward, visual approach to identifying potential trade opportunities based on price relationship to a central line.

Traders should use this signal in conjunction with other technical analysis tools to confirm signals and reduce false positives. It is especially useful for short-term trading strategies that rely on quick identification of price momentum and trend changes.
