How it works

The Trendilo indicator begins by calculating the percentage change of a selected price source, which provides a normalized view of price movement. It then applies smoothing to this percentage change to reduce noise and create a more stable signal. Next, the indicator computes the Arnaud Legoux Moving Average (ALMA) of the smoothed percentage change.

This moving average is then compared against a root mean square (RMS) band, which represents the expected range of ALMA values. By comparing the ALMA to this RMS band, the indicator can determine whether the current trend is moving upward, downward, or remaining sideways.

Why it may be useful

The Trendilo indicator is crucial for traders because it provides a comprehensive and visual representation of market trends, helping them make more informed trading decisions. By smoothing out price changes and using advanced moving average techniques, it reduces the impact of market noise and highlights underlying trend directions.

Moreover, the indicator's color-coded display and optional bar coloring make trend identification intuitive and quick. Traders can easily distinguish between bullish, bearish, and neutral market conditions, which can be especially helpful in fast-moving or volatile market environments.

When to explore it

The Trendilo indicator is most effective in markets with clear trending characteristics, such as forex, stocks, and cryptocurrencies. It performs best when price movements are relatively consistent and not experiencing extreme choppiness or random fluctuations. Traders should consider using this indicator during periods of sustained directional movement.

It is particularly useful for traders seeking to identify trend reversals, confirm existing trends, and make more precise entry and exit decisions. The indicator can be applied across multiple timeframes, making it versatile for scalpers, day traders, and swing traders alike.
