What “AI-powered” indicators actually mean

Separate machine-learning methods from marketing, and learn what to ask before trusting an adaptive trading indicator.

“AI-powered” does not identify one calculation or prove an indicator is more accurate. Start by asking what the script actually learns or adapts.

Two concrete examples

jdehorty's Lorentzian Classification describes a nearest-neighbor classification approach with a Lorentzian distance measure. AlgoAlpha's Adaptive SuperTrend describes clustering ATR values into volatility groups. These are different tasks, despite both using machine-learning terminology.

Questions to ask

  • What are the inputs and the output?
  • Does the model predict, classify or only adjust a parameter?
  • Which data were available when each signal was produced?
  • What changes after a candle closes or the chart reloads?
  • What evidence compares it with a simpler baseline?

DeepAlpha has not independently validated the predictive performance of these scripts. Creator descriptions explain intended methods; they do not establish future results.
