A 4-hour trading indicator that tracks high, mid, and low price levels to help identify price range, consolidation, and potential entry/exit points.
Explore complementary indicator rolesHow it works
The indicator operates on a 4-hour timeframe, automatically calculating and plotting the high, mid, and low price levels for each period. It retrieves the high, low, and closing prices, then calculates the mid-price as the average of high and low. When first run, the script draws three lines representing these levels on the chart.
As each subsequent 4-hour period progresses, the script checks if the close price has moved beyond a user-defined threshold. If the threshold is exceeded, it automatically removes previous lines and labels, then creates new lines and labels at the updated high, mid, and low price levels.
Why it may be useful
This indicator provides traders with a dynamic visual representation of price range and consolidation zones, helping to identify potential support and resistance levels. By tracking high, mid, and low prices across 4-hour periods, traders can gain insights into market structure and potential price movement patterns.
The flexible customization options, such as line colors, label visibility, and tick threshold settings, allow traders to adapt the indicator to different market conditions and personal trading preferences. Additionally, the data window display of price levels offers precise numeric information to complement the visual chart representation.
When to explore it
The indicator is most effective in markets experiencing range-bound or consolidating price action, where clear high and low levels can help identify potential entry and exit points. It works particularly well in timeframes where 4-hour periods provide meaningful market insights, such as day trading and swing trading scenarios.
Traders should consider using this indicator in markets with sufficient liquidity and consistent price movements. It may be especially useful for traders looking to understand price ranges, identify potential breakout points, and develop a structured approach to tracking market levels across different financial instruments.
