UNDERSTAND THE TOOL

How it works

The indicator analyzes price data to identify the absolute highest and lowest closing prices on a chart, either across the entire visible chart or within a user-defined range of candles. When 'Use all candles' is enabled, the script continuously updates high and low lines based on the complete price history, dynamically adjusting as new price extremes emerge.

In custom range mode, the script scans a specified number of recent candles to find and plot the highest and lowest closes. The lines are color-coded (green and red) and extend to the right side of the chart, providing visual anchors for traders to understand historical price context and potential future price interactions.

Why it may be useful

This indicator provides traders with a clear visual representation of historical price extremes, which can be crucial for understanding market dynamics and potential future price movements. By highlighting absolute high and low closing prices, traders can quickly identify key support and resistance levels that might otherwise be difficult to recognize at a glance.

The persistent horizontal lines serve as important reference points for analyzing market trends, helping traders make more informed decisions about potential entry and exit points. These markers can be particularly valuable for developing mean-reversion strategies and confirming breakout or breakdown conditions across different trading timeframes.

When to explore it

The indicator is most effective when traders want to gain a comprehensive view of historical price extremes and establish clear reference points for potential trading decisions. It is particularly useful in markets with significant price fluctuations, where identifying absolute highs and lows can provide critical insights into market sentiment and potential trend reversals.

Traders can benefit from this tool across various timeframes and market conditions, whether they are looking to spot long-term support and resistance zones or seeking to understand the historical context of price action. It is especially valuable for discretionary traders who appreciate visual markers that help them interpret market dynamics and potential trading opportunities.
