How it works

The CPR Lines script retrieves the prior trading day's high, low, and close prices using the request.security function. It then calculates three essential pivot levels: the Central Pivot Line (CPL), Bottom Central Pivot (BCP), and Top Central Pivot (TCP).

CPL is calculated as the average of the previous day's high, low, and close prices. BCP represents the average of the prior day's high and low prices, while TCP is derived by adding the difference between CPL and BCP to the CPL itself. These levels are then plotted on the chart with distinct black lines for easy identification.

Why it may be useful

The CPR Lines script provides traders with critical visual reference points that help interpret potential market movements and price dynamics. By offering key support and resistance levels derived from the previous day's trading activity, traders can better anticipate potential price reactions and make more informed trading decisions.

These pivot levels serve as important psychological markers that can help traders understand potential trend directions, entry and exit points, and overall market sentiment. The script's ability to quickly and accurately calculate these levels can enhance a trader's technical analysis toolkit and provide valuable insights into potential price behavior.

When to explore it

The CPR Lines script is most effective for traders focusing on short to medium-term trading strategies, particularly in markets with clear daily price ranges and consistent trends. It works best in liquid markets with predictable price movements, such as major stock indices, forex pairs, and heavily traded commodities.

Traders should use this script in conjunction with other technical indicators and analysis methods to confirm signals and validate potential trading opportunities. It is particularly useful during periods of market volatility, when clear reference points can help traders navigate uncertain price movements and make more strategic trading decisions.
