UNDERSTAND THE TOOL

How it works

EquiVolume modifies traditional candlestick charts by dynamically adjusting the width of each candle based on the trading volume during that period. Wider candles represent higher trading volume, while narrower candles indicate lower volume, creating an immediate visual representation of market participation and intensity.

The charting method allows traders to customize the width range of candles through minimum and maximum width settings. Additionally, it offers an intrabar analysis feature that can calculate the percentage of lower timeframe candles moving in the same direction as the current timeframe candle.

Why it may be useful

EquiVolume provides traders with a more comprehensive view of market dynamics by integrating volume information directly into the price chart. By visually representing volume through candle width, traders can quickly identify periods of significant market activity and potential trend strength or weakness.

The method enhances traditional candlestick analysis by adding a critical dimension of market participation. Traders can more easily spot large volume candles, understand market sentiment, and make more informed decisions about potential price movements and trend continuation or reversal.

When to explore it

EquiVolume is most effective during periods of high market volatility and significant price movements. It works best for traders who want to combine price action analysis with volume insights, particularly in markets with clear trending or range-bound characteristics.

This charting method is particularly useful for short-term trading strategies like scalping and day trading, where understanding immediate market sentiment and volume dynamics is crucial. Traders can leverage EquiVolume to identify potential entry and exit points, confirm trend strength, and detect potential market reversals.
