UNDERSTAND THE TOOL

How it works

The script utilizes precise time calculations to detect when different forex market sessions begin and end. It compares the current bar's session status with the previous bar to identify session transitions, drawing horizontal lines at the high and low of the preceding candle.

By allowing users to input custom session times and choose specific time zones, the indicator provides flexible tracking of market sessions. The script uses TradingView's time() function to calculate session periods independently of the chart's inherent time settings, ensuring accurate session detection.

Why it may be useful

Market sessions are critical for understanding global forex trading dynamics, as different sessions have varying levels of liquidity, volatility, and participant activity. This indicator helps traders visualize these key transition points, providing crucial context for potential trading opportunities and market behavior.

By marking session opens and closes with customizable lines and labels, traders can quickly identify potential entry and exit points. The Open Range High (ORH) and Open Range Low (ORL) markers offer additional insight into price levels established just before session changes.

When to explore it

This indicator is most effective on intraday timeframes, particularly 1-minute or lower charts where precise session tracking is crucial. It is especially valuable for traders focusing on forex markets and those who need to track multiple global trading sessions simultaneously.

Traders can benefit from this tool when analyzing markets with significant session overlaps, such as during European and US market hours. It is particularly useful for day traders and scalpers who rely on understanding market dynamics and session-specific trading characteristics.
