How it works

The Tether Ratio Channel uses a proxy for stablecoin market cap (USDT + USDC + DAI) divided by Bitcoin market cap, creating a higher timeframe RSI bound inside a Bollinger Band channel. The metric generates signals through a cross between the yellow line (metric) and its weighted moving average (white line).

When the yellow line crosses the white line, different signal types are generated. A bullish cross below the green horizontal target represents a high-conviction buy signal, while a bullish cross above the target is a lower-conviction but still potentially good entry point.

Why it may be useful

This on-chain metric provides traders with a unique perspective on market dynamics by tracking the relationship between Bitcoin and stablecoin market caps. It offers insights into potential market trends and turning points by analyzing the flow of capital between Bitcoin and stablecoins.

The Tether Ratio Channel is particularly valuable because it helps traders understand market sentiment and potential price movements by monitoring the ratio of cryptocurrency market capitalizations. Its normalized and smoothed approach allows for more consistent and clear signal generation across different market conditions.

When to explore it

The Tether Ratio Channel is most effective for swing trading, providing signals that align with short to medium-term market trends. Traders should pay close attention to bullish crosses below the green line, which represent high-conviction buy signals with significant upside potential.

The metric is particularly useful when the yellow line is lower on the Y-axis, indicating more upside potential for the total cryptocurrency market cap. Bearish crosses, especially those above 55 on the Y-axis, are typically good times to take profits or prepare for potential market corrections.
