How it works

The trend quality signal calculates a score by assessing multiple moving averages' directional movement and their sequential positioning. Each moving average (EMA-8, MA-20, MA-50, MA-100, MA-200) earns a point if it's increasing.

Additional points are awarded when these moving averages are progressively arranged in a specific hierarchical order. The resulting score is then smoothed using weekly and monthly moving averages to provide a more stable trend assessment

Why it may be useful

This indicator helps traders understand trend strength and potential market direction by objectively quantifying trend quality. By systematically evaluating multiple moving averages, it provides a comprehensive view of market momentum beyond simple directional analysis.

Traders can use this score to distinguish between weak and strong trends, potentially reducing false signals and improving trade entry and exit decisions

When to explore it

The trend quality signal works best in markets with clear directional movements, particularly in stocks, forex, and commodities with established trends. It is most effective during trending market conditions, where price consistently moves in a specific direction.

Traders should apply this indicator when seeking confirmation of trend strength before entering trades, and use it in conjunction with other technical analysis tools for more robust trading strategies
