UNDERSTAND THE TOOL

How it works

TMO calculates momentum by comparing current closing prices to past open prices, assigning +1 for bullish, -1 for bearish, and 0 for no change. It then smooths this raw momentum using multiple Exponential Moving Averages (EMAs). The first EMA smooths the raw data over a short period, creating a main line. A second EMA creates a signal line, providing additional refinement and noise reduction

Why it may be useful

The TMO helps traders understand market dynamics by providing clear momentum signals. It offers insights into trend strength, potential reversals, and market sentiment. By identifying overbought and oversold conditions, traders can make more informed decisions. The indicator's ability to smooth out price fluctuations reduces false signals and provides a more reliable view of market movements

When to explore it

TMO works best in markets with clear trending characteristics, such as stocks, forex, and futures. It is most effective during periods of consistent price movement, where momentum shifts are more pronounced. Traders should use TMO in conjunction with other technical indicators to confirm signals. It is particularly useful for identifying potential entry and exit points during trend transitions
