How it works

The indicator calculates expected price movements using the VIX volatility index and the square root of time rule. It converts annualized volatility into specific timeframe bands by dividing the VIX percentage by the square root of trading periods.

The bands are created by applying the calculated volatility to the current price, generating blue (daily), green (weekly), and red (30-day) semi-transparent bands representing ±1 standard deviation price ranges

Why it may be useful

This volatility indicator provides traders with a probabilistic view of potential price ranges based on current market conditions. By visualizing expected price movements, traders can better understand market uncertainty and potential price fluctuations.

The bands help in setting realistic price expectations, managing risk, and identifying potential support and resistance levels. It offers a quick, intuitive way to assess market volatility across multiple timeframes

When to explore it

The indicator is most effective during periods of changing market volatility. It works best when traders want to understand potential price ranges before entering trades.

Particularly useful during earnings announcements, economic reports, or significant market events that might impact price movement. Traders can use it to set stop-loss levels, determine position sizing, and assess potential trade entry and exit points across different market conditions
