Gold charts: match the indicator to the instrument
Why a gold futures chart, spot quote and tokenized-gold market can give different indicator readings.
Before comparing gold indicators, identify the exact market on the chart. A spot quote, futures contract and tokenized-gold pair are not interchangeable data series.
Record what you are measuring
- The full symbol and exchange or data provider.
- The quote currency and chart timezone.
- The session and timeframe.
- Whether volume represents trades, ticks or unavailable data.
- Any contract rollover or other adjustments relevant to the series.
Run your comparison on the same series. Otherwise, a difference attributed to the indicator may actually come from a different price feed or session.
Keep product research separate
A chart indicator cannot verify a token issuer's reserves, custody, redemption conditions or legal rights. Check those matters directly in current issuer documentation. Likewise, a chart tracking gold does not make every instrument offering gold exposure equivalent.
This replaces the archive's outdated token pricing and redemption claims. It is a guide to choosing research data, not a recommendation to buy a gold product.
Explore gold-related indicators, then verify their intended symbol and data requirements.
