How it works

The indicator uses two Donchian Channels with different period lengths (20 and 34) to track price movements and channel interactions. It calculates the highest and lowest prices within each channel period, creating dynamic upper and lower boundaries that adapt to recent price action.

When the highest price touches either upper channel boundary, a blue dot is plotted above the candle. Similarly, when the lowest price touches either lower channel boundary, a blue dot is plotted below the candle. This provides a clean, uncluttered visual representation of price channel interactions without displaying the actual channel lines.

Why it may be useful

Donchian Channels help traders identify trend strength, potential breakouts, and price momentum without the visual complexity of traditional channel indicators. By using blue dots as markers, traders can quickly spot moments when price touches critical channel boundaries, signaling potential trend continuation or reversal.

The dual-length approach adds nuance to the analysis, allowing traders to capture signals from two different time perspectives. This can provide more robust trend identification and reduce false signals compared to single-length channel methods.

When to explore it

This indicator works best in trending markets with clear directional movements, where price consistently interacts with channel boundaries. It is particularly effective for traders seeking quick visual cues about potential trend shifts or momentum changes without overwhelming chart analysis.

The signal is most reliable on higher timeframes like 4-hour and daily charts, where noise is reduced and channel interactions carry more significance. Traders should combine these dots with other confirmation signals like volume, momentum indicators, or price action patterns to validate potential trade entries or exits.
