How it works

The Delta Flow Profile analyzes trading activity by breaking down price ranges into individual rows that represent buying and selling pressure. It calculates money flow using two primary methods: a Money Flow Profile that shows total trading activity and a Delta Profile that assesses market sentiment through volume delta.

The indicator uses either Bar Polarity or Bar Buying/Selling Pressure to determine volume direction, creating normalized profiles that represent percentage of money flow at each price level. By comparing these levels, traders can understand the relative importance of different price points and identify areas of significant market activity.

Why it may be useful

The Delta Flow Profile provides traders with a comprehensive view of market dynamics by revealing hidden insights about buying and selling pressures across different price ranges. It helps traders understand where significant market activity occurs and how different price levels relate to overall trading sentiment.

By visualizing money flow and volume delta, traders can make more informed decisions about potential support and resistance levels, market sentiment, and potential price movements. The normalized profile allows for easy comparison between different price zones, making complex market information more accessible and interpretable.

When to explore it

The Delta Flow Profile is most effective during periods of clear market trends and significant trading volume, where meaningful patterns of buying and selling pressure can be identified. It works particularly well in liquid markets with consistent trading activity, such as major stock indices, forex pairs, and actively traded commodities.

Traders should use this indicator when seeking to understand market sentiment, identify potential reversal points, and confirm trend strength. It is especially useful when combined with other technical analysis tools to provide a more comprehensive view of market dynamics and potential trading opportunities.
