How it works

The indicator calculates a Dynamic Volume-Volatility Adjusted Momentum by first determining the Typical Price and computing a Price Coefficient based on deviations from the simple moving average. It then evaluates the Volume Coefficient by comparing current volume to its simple moving average and calculates Intraday Volatility to measure daily price range relative to closing price.

The system further refines the analysis by computing an Intraday Volatility Ratio and an inter-day Average True Range based Relative Volatility. These calculations are integrated to create a volume and volatility adjusted momentum metric, which is ultimately converted into a standardized Z-Score for easier interpretation and comparison across different market conditions.

Why it may be useful

This indicator provides traders with a sophisticated tool that goes beyond traditional momentum measures by incorporating multiple market dynamics simultaneously. By integrating price, volume, and volatility, it offers a more comprehensive view of market movement potential that can help identify more reliable trading signals.

The Z-Score transformation allows traders to understand momentum in a standardized context, making it easier to compare across different securities and market conditions. Its adaptive length and multi-factor approach help filter out market noise and focus on significant price movements supported by substantial trading activity.

When to explore it

The indicator is most effective in markets with clear trending characteristics and moderate to high trading volumes. It performs particularly well in markets where price movements are accompanied by significant volume, providing more reliable momentum signals compared to price-only indicators.

Traders should use this indicator in conjunction with other technical analysis tools, especially in short to medium-term trading scenarios like scalping and day trading. Its dynamic nature makes it particularly useful in volatile markets where traditional fixed-length momentum indicators might provide less accurate or timely signals.
