How it works

The indicator first identifies engulfing candlestick patterns by analyzing the relationship between consecutive candles. A bullish engulfing pattern occurs when a green candle completely covers the previous red candle, while a bearish engulfing pattern shows the opposite. Simultaneously, the indicator calculates the Average True Range (ATR) to measure market volatility.

When the current candle's range exceeds a defined multiple of the ATR (default 1.5), it signals a potential market imbalance. The script then plots visual signals - green triangles for bullish reversals and red triangles for bearish reversals - when both an engulfing pattern and an ATR imbalance are detected together.

Why it may be useful

This indicator provides traders with a more robust method of identifying potential market turning points by combining price action analysis with volatility measurement. By integrating candlestick patterns and ATR, it helps traders filter out less reliable signals and focus on high-probability reversal opportunities.

The visual markers and customizable settings allow traders to adapt the indicator to different market conditions and trading styles. This approach reduces false signals by requiring confirmation from both price structure and market volatility, potentially improving trade entry and exit decisions.

When to explore it

The signal works best in markets with clear trending characteristics and moderate to high volatility, such as forex, futures, and actively traded stocks. Traders can utilize this indicator most effectively on timeframes ranging from 5-minute charts for day trading to daily charts for swing trading.

It is particularly useful during periods of market transition, when price action shows potential reversal patterns and volatility indicates significant market movements. Traders should combine this signal with other technical and fundamental analysis to validate trading decisions and manage risk effectively.
