How it works

The Financials Score script calculates a comprehensive numerical score by analyzing multiple financial metrics through TradingView's financial data request. It evaluates key performance indicators like operating margin, earnings per share, price-to-earnings ratio, debt-to-equity ratio, and return on equity.

The scoring mechanism assigns points based on specific financial thresholds: 20 points for operating margin over 20%, 10 points each for positive EPS, reasonable P/E and P/B ratios, low debt-to-equity, strong return on equity, favorable P/FCF ratio, and a healthy current ratio. An additional RSI check provides further validation of the stock's potential.

Why it may be useful

This financial scoring system provides investors with a holistic view of a company's financial health by condensing complex financial metrics into a single, easy-to-understand score. It offers a systematic approach to evaluating stocks beyond traditional price-based analysis, helping investors quickly identify potentially strong investment opportunities.

By incorporating multiple financial indicators, the score helps mitigate individual metric biases and provides a more comprehensive assessment. Investors can use this score as a quick screening tool to compare different stocks and make more informed investment decisions across various sectors and market conditions.

When to explore it

The Financials Score is most effective for medium to long-term investment strategies, particularly for investors seeking fundamentally sound stocks with strong financial foundations. It works best when used as an initial screening tool to identify potential investment candidates before conducting deeper research.

Investors should use this score in conjunction with other analytical methods, particularly for stocks with a score above 60, which indicates strong financial health. It is particularly useful for value investors, fundamental analysts, and those interested in identifying stocks with solid financial performance and potential for sustainable growth.
