How it works

The Gamma Blast Detector analyzes price action between 3:10 PM and 3:20 PM IST, specifically monitoring 5-minute charts of the Nifty index. It compares the current candle's size to the average of the previous five candles, flagging potential gamma blasts when the current candle is at least twice as large and shows a clear directional move.

When a significant price movement is detected, the indicator marks the chart with visual labels: 'CE 🚀' for bullish moves and 'PE 🔻' for bearish moves. This helps traders quickly identify potential option-driven price explosions during critical market moments, particularly on expiry days.

Why it may be useful

The Gamma Blast Detector provides traders with a unique insight into sudden, explosive market movements typically caused by options trading dynamics. By focusing on the final minutes of the trading session, it helps identify potential short-term momentum shifts that might be missed by traditional technical analysis.

This indicator is particularly valuable for options traders, scalpers, and day traders who want to capitalize on rapid price changes driven by gamma effects. It offers a real-time, visual approach to detecting potential high-impact market moves during critical trading windows.

When to explore it

The Gamma Blast Detector is most effective during expiry days and the final minutes of the trading session, specifically between 3:10 PM and 3:20 PM IST. It works best on 5-minute charts of the Nifty spot or futures index, where gamma-driven volatility is most likely to occur.

Traders should use this indicator when looking to identify sudden price movements caused by options trading, particularly during periods of potential short-covering or option unwinding. It is especially useful for intraday traders seeking to capture quick, momentum-driven market opportunities.
