How it works

The RDI integrates two distinct indicators: the Average Directional Index (ADX) and the Relative Strength Index (RSI). ADX measures trend strength through directional movement, displaying trend acceleration or deceleration via green and red histogram bars.

RSI tracks momentum by revealing overbought and oversold conditions, with levels above 50 indicating bullish control and below 50 signaling bearish pressure. The combined indicator uses Fibonacci-based default values to create visual markers and crossover points that help traders understand market dynamics

Why it may be useful

Traditional trading indicators often focus solely on trend or momentum, creating potential blind spots in market analysis. By integrating ADX and RSI, the RDI provides a more holistic view of market conditions, offering traders enhanced signal validation and confidence.

It helps identify trend strength, detect potential reversals, and filter out false signals during market consolidation. The indicator's visual design and customizable reference lines make complex market information more accessible and interpretable

When to explore it

The RDI works best in trending markets with clear directional movement, particularly during swing and day trading scenarios. It is most effective when price is showing sustained momentum, either bullish or bearish.

Traders should utilize the RDI when seeking confirmation of trend entries, looking for early reversal signals, or wanting to avoid trading in choppy, range-bound markets. The indicator is particularly powerful when combined with other technical analysis tools like VWAPs and moving averages
