How it works

The indicator automatically identifies Fair Value Gaps by detecting rapid price movements that skip over specific chart portions, typically between three candles. It uses precise rules to detect bullish and bearish FVGs, requiring gaps larger than 0.05% of price and applying specific detection criteria for each type of gap.

The tool further enhances analysis by tracking New Day Opening Gaps (NDOGs) and New Week Opening Gaps (NWOGs), which provide additional context around session transitions. It automatically manages these zones, removing them once price closes beyond their boundaries and offering optional features like merging consecutive gaps and plotting encroachment lines.

Why it may be useful

Fair Value Gaps provide crucial insights into potential institutional trading activities and market inefficiencies that individual traders can exploit. By highlighting zones where price moved rapidly and inefficiently, the indicator helps traders understand potential areas of future price reaction and institutional interest.

The tool's systematic approach allows traders to identify high-probability entry points, targets, and liquidity zones with minimal manual intervention. It transforms complex market structure analysis into a clear, rules-based methodology that can be applied across different trading styles and timeframes.

When to explore it

This indicator is most effective in markets with significant institutional participation, such as forex, futures, and large-cap stocks. Traders should apply it during periods of normal market volatility, where price movements are substantial enough to create meaningful gaps but not so erratic that they invalidate the analysis.

It works best when combined with other technical analysis tools and used across multiple timeframes to confirm signals. Traders should pay special attention to unmitigated FVGs near key support and resistance levels, and during critical market sessions like daily and weekly opens.
