How it works

The indicator calculates cumulative volume delta (CVD) by analyzing candle bodies and wicks, determining buying and selling volumes for each candle. It then applies a stochastic calculation to the CVD, comparing current values against the period's highest and lowest values.

Simultaneously, the indicator tracks short-term and long-term exponential moving averages (EMAs), creating a stochastic representation of their differences. When the stochastic CVD value rises from zero and the short-term EMA stochastic value reaches 100, it generates a major bullish signal. Conversely, when the stochastic CVD falls from 100 and the short-term EMA stochastic value hits 0, it produces a major bearish signal.

Why it may be useful

This signal provides traders with a nuanced view of market dynamics by revealing the underlying volume trends that might not be immediately apparent from price action alone. By tracking the relationship between buying and selling volumes, traders can gain insights into potential market reversals and momentum shifts.

The indicator helps traders understand when volume diverges from price movement, which can be a powerful predictor of future market behavior. By combining volume analysis with EMA differences, it offers a more comprehensive approach to identifying potential entry and exit points, helping traders make more informed decisions.

When to explore it

The signal works best in markets with clear volume trends and meaningful price movements, such as highly liquid stocks, major currency pairs, and actively traded commodities. It is particularly effective during periods of market transition, where volume can provide early signals of potential trend changes.

Traders should use this indicator in conjunction with other technical analysis tools, fundamental research, and risk management strategies. It is most reliable when confirmed by additional indicators like Keltner Bands or volume-weighted average price (VWAP), and when used across multiple timeframes to validate signals.
