How it works

The Rotational Factor calculates market direction by scoring each 30-minute regular trading hours (RTH) candle. A score of +1 is assigned when a candle's high is higher than the previous candle's high, while -1 is assigned when the high is lower.

Similar scoring occurs for candle lows. These incremental scores create a running tally that indicates whether buyers or sellers are controlling market movement during the trading session

Why it may be useful

This method provides traders with an objective measure of market sentiment and directional momentum. By tracking incremental changes in candle highs and lows, traders can gain insight into the underlying market psychology. The Rotational Factor helps identify potential shifts in market control, offering a dynamic view of intraday trading dynamics that goes beyond traditional price analysis

When to explore it

The Rotational Factor is most effective during active trading sessions with clear market movements. It works best in liquid markets with consistent volume and during periods of established trend development. Traders should use this indicator alongside other technical analysis tools to confirm market direction and potential trend reversals
