How it works

The indicator calculates the Relative Strength Index (RSI) using open, high, low, and close prices over a 10-period window, providing a smoother representation of price momentum. The RSI line is color-coded: green when above 50 and red when below 50, offering an immediate visual cue of trend strength and direction.

An additional exponential moving average (EMA) with a default period of 34 is overlaid on the RSI line. The EMA is also color-coded, turning green when trending higher and red when trending lower. The space between the RSI and EMA lines changes color based on their relative positions, further enhancing visual trend identification.

Why it may be useful

The color-coded RSI provides traders with an intuitive way to quickly assess market momentum and trend direction without complex calculations. By using multiple visual indicators like color changes and line relationships, traders can more easily spot potential trend reversals and momentum shifts.

The combination of RSI and EMA allows for multiple layers of analysis, including identifying overbought and oversold conditions, detecting trend changes, and providing trade confirmation signals. This makes the indicator versatile and adaptable to different trading styles and timeframes.

When to explore it

This indicator is most effective when used on shorter timeframes like 3-minute, 1-hour, and 3-hour charts to help time precise entry and exit points. Traders should look for specific signal patterns such as bullish crossovers (RSI crossing above EMA and 50 level) and bearish crossovers (RSI crossing below EMA and 50 level).

Additional strategic uses include identifying potential trend reversals through RSI divergences, drawing trend lines on the RSI to detect potential trend changes, and using the EMA color as a confirmation signal for maintaining long or short positions.
