How it works

The indicator calculates buying and selling volume through a mathematical formula that estimates volume aggression based on price close position within each candle's range. When a candle closes near its high, more volume is attributed to buying; when it closes near its low, more volume is considered selling.

The indicator dynamically stacks these volume components, using blue for buying and yellow for selling, with the dominant component plotted directly on the grey total volume histogram. A thin purple line marks the 30-bar volume simple moving average, highlighting volume spikes above the typical trading activity.

Why it may be useful

Understanding volume dynamics provides crucial insights into market sentiment and potential price movements. By visualizing the aggressive buying or selling pressure within each candle, traders can better interpret underlying market psychology and potential trend strength or weakness.

The color-coded volume breakdown allows traders to quickly assess which market participants - buyers or sellers - are more dominant, helping identify potential trend confirmations, reversals, or exhaustion points that might not be apparent from price action alone.

When to explore it

This volume indicator is most effective during periods of significant market movement, such as breakouts, trend reversals, or consolidation phases. It helps traders confirm price action by revealing the volume dynamics behind each candle, offering insights into potential trend continuation or potential trend exhaustion.

Traders can leverage this tool across various timeframes and market conditions, but it becomes particularly valuable during volatile market sessions, major economic announcements, or when analyzing stocks and instruments with substantial trading volume.
